The H.E.A.L. (Healthy Eating Active Living) program is a community health initiative targeting the South Hayward community. Our goal is to work together with community members to develop feasible recreational and healthy eating improvements within the community of South Hayward. This will provide residents with the opportunity to incorporate physical activity and healthy eating into their daily lives.
The H.E.A.L. program is committed to working closely with residents living in multiunit apartment complexes to ensure that community ownership of this program is maintained. Only with the dedication and cooperation of residents can programs affecting active living and healthy eating be developed and sustained within the complex. With hard work and dedication changes can be made that will improve healthy eating choices and resident access to places of physical activity.
GTCDC is concerned with the whole man. “Healthy People 2020 highlights the importance of addressing the social determinants of health by including “Create social and physical environments that promote good health for all” as one of the four overarching goals for the decade”. GTCDC participates in and advocates for programs that are solution driven and address the social and economic condition of our community.
